BikeRadar.com – Website Of The Week

A popular cycling website called BikeRadar.com recently interviewed me about my website at BicycleTouringPro.com and my life as a long-distance bicycle traveler. SWAE Sports & Bicycle Touring Pro

A little over a month ago a new company called SWAE Sports contacted me about placing a script on my website at BicycleTouringPro.com that would allow my readers to search for and book bicycle tours from hundreds of companies all over the world. It sounded like a great idea, so I placed the code on my site and have been using this new service ever since.

From what I understand, the company (SWAE) is still in their infancy, but I think they might be on to something. There are a number of websites out there that book bicycle tours and other guided and unguided adventure tours, but what SWAE is doing by branding out to affiliates and getting them to promote the tours for them is truly unique. Actually, it’s something that’s pretty obvious and should have been done a long time ago, so that’s why I think SWAE might really have something here.

Anyway, I just recently watched a video on their website (the video embedded above) and noticed that SWAE is using my website at BicycleTouringPro.com as the example website for other website owners who might be interested in using the SWAE Sports affiliate code on their own websites. They didn’t tell me they were going to use my website in the video… and I didn’t even know they were making a video of this type… but I sure am glad they picked me! It’s just one of those cool little things that happens when you run a website and I wanted to document this moment and share it with you.

While I’m at it: Thank you SWAE Sports… and I look forward to seeing what you do in the future (and I hope we can continue working together to really turn this business of yours into something special).

One Year As An Adventure Cycling Guest Blogger

It’s been nearly one year now since I started writing as a guest blogger for America’s largest bicycle touring organization, the Adventure Cycling Association.

I really like writing articles for the ACA because the ACA are the ones that initially taught me so much about bicycle travel. And now, by sharing what I’ve learned over the past ten years of traveling by bike myself, I get to help others both learn about and experience the wonders of bicycle touring.

While I have been blogging on my own website at BicycleTouringPro.com for nearly three years now, the Adventure Cycling Association just celebrated their first year in the blogosphere. To mark the occasion, the ACA posted an article listing their top 10 blog posts of the last year – and one of the articles I wrote for them (an article about how to pack your bicycle panniers) landed at number 8 on the list.

I have one more article to write for the Adventure Cycling Association this year, but I really hope they ask me back to write for them again. I love writing for the organization and I’ve got a whole lot more to share.
