two tents and chevy car at idaho campground

This weekend I went camping with my friends Josh and Kristen Miller. It was a last-minute camping trip, but it came together quite nicely. I drove my motorcycle down to Salt Lake City on Friday afternoon and after Kristen got home from work we all jumped in the car and drove for about 3 hours, through the rain and cold, to Paris Springs Campground, just outside of Paris, Idaho.

Riding Bicycles With Marissa In Park City

By DARREN ALFF on

While Marissa was in town, I decided to take her on a short 10-mile bike ride from downtown Park City to the newer side of the city known as Kimball Junction. Along the way, I shot footage with my GoPro video camera and later edited the footage together so as to produce this short video. Enjoy!

Antelope Island

By DARREN ALFF on

During Marissa’s last day in Utah, we took a drive up to Antelope Island on the Great Salt Lake. I’ve lived in Utah for more than five years now, and it was my first time (as well as my sister’s) to see the Great Salt Lake from up close. While on the island, we drove around pretty much everywhere there was to go, took a lot of photos, and also went on a long hike toward the very top of the island (although we didn’t actually reach the very summit). While on the island we saw hundreds of birds, an entire herd of bison, and two small coyotes.

By DARREN ALFF on

it's a long uphill hike to the east rim at zion national park

This weekend I went to Zion National Park with my neighbors Mark Davidson and Rebecca Wood. We left Park City early on Friday morning and arrived at Zion shortly before 3 PM. After securing a camping permit for two nights on the East Rim of the Park, we loaded up our backpacks, jumped on the Park shuttle bus, and quickly began out ascent of the East Rim Trail.

Video: Riding A Bicycle To Pachacamac

By DARREN ALFF on

During my first couple weeks in Peru, I rented a bicycle and rode it nearly 20 kilometers south of the city to the Pachacamac ruins. It was my first time outside of the Lima city limits… and it was definitely a highlight of my time in the city. I made this video shortly after riding my rented bicycle to the ruins, but I wasn’t able to upload the video to the Internet until now because the Internet in Peru was so terribly slow. Enjoy!

A Summary Of My Travels In Peru

By DARREN ALFF on

After 5 months in Peru, I thought it would be a good idea to sit down and talk about some of the most memorable parts my trip. I do this more for myself than anything else, but if you are interested in my travels through Peru, then this video does a good job of hitting on some of the major highlights.

Tom & Christi, Camarillo & A Boatload Of Babies

By DARREN ALFF on

camarillo california library and farm fields

After returning from my 5-month trip through Peru, I spent a little over a week in my hometown of Camarillo, California before flying back to my (current) home in Park City, Utah. During my time in Camarillo, I spent some time with my aunt and uncle; went on a walk into the orchards behind the Camarillo library (image above); saw two movies (Soul Surfer (sucked) and Hanna (a German fairy tale film – I liked it!));  crashed a party at the Miller house; and met up with my friends Travis and Kelli Miller (and their new baby, Mac), Jason and Danielle June (and their new baby Caden), and Sharon and Wesley Cook (and their new baby Evan). Now I am back in Park City and (for the moment at least )I’m glad to be home.

Goodbye Peru - My Last Day In Lima

By DARREN ALFF on

the panamerican highway running along the coast through lima peru

My last day in Peru was a long one. I took a night bus from Chiclayo and arrived in Lima around 7 AM on the morning of April 21st. My flight wasn’t until 11:50 PM that night, so I had more than 16 hours to kill until I could board my flight and travel back to my parents’ home in Southern California.

Two Days In Chiclayo, Peru

By DARREN ALFF on

man on motorcycle driving through busy chiclayo street market

My last couple days in Peru were spent in the large bustling city of Chiclayo. The city has few tourist attractions and is therefore most known for it’s large outdoor market where practically anything can be purchased – from food to clothes to illegal goods and everything inbetween. The photo above was taken in that large and slightly-famous city market… and the photos below were taken in various locations around the city during my two days in Chiclayo.
