Marissa Visits Park City In The Spring

My little sister, Marissa, came to visit me in Park City this past week. It was her first time visiting me since I moved to Park City more than five years ago, so I had a lot I wanted to show her.

When Marissa first arrived, it was snowing in Park City – not the greatest weather. So I took her to Main Street and we checked out all the art galleries and shops. Then we took a driving tour of downtown Park City and Deer Valley. We were hoping to find a couple open houses to crash, but because of the snow, there were none.

Luckily, the snow wasn’t bad enough that first day to stop the bobsled track from running. So we headed over to the Utah Olympic Park and Marissa took a quick run down the bobsled.

During her stay, Marissa did a lot to help me find some crucial items for my condo (like new curtains and a bedspread). I tried to return the favor by showing her some of the homes in Park City (I was hoping to get her inside some of the homes), but I was majorly unsuccessful. We did, however, manage to see this rainbow while we were checking out some of my favorite homes in Park City.

The next day it was still quite cold (and snowing at times), but I was able to convince Marissa that it would be a good day to go on a bike ride. So we jumped on the free city bus with our bikes and got off in downtown Park City. From there, we cycled downhill all the way back to my condo. The entire ride was probably about 10 miles in length, but it may have been Marissa’s longest bicycle ride ever.

Near the end of the bike ride, Marissa went the wrong way and when she tried to do quick turn around, she toppled over and I snapped this photo of her and her bicycle on the ground.

The next day we drive down to Salt Lake City and did a bunch of shopping. On the way back, we drove to our parents’ rental house in Lehi and then drove back to Park City through the Provo Canyon. While in the canyon, we stopped at the entrance to Bridal Veil Falls and took a short walk out to the waterfall.

The next day I took Marissa on a 70+ mile motorcycle ride. It was my first time ever carrying a passenger on the back of my bike… and it was Marissa’s first time being on a motorcycle at all. So, it was scary for us both! But I think Marissa had fun. I took her past three reservoirs, to Echo, Coalville, Wanship… and then back to Park City.

The day after that, we went on a long hike in an ATV area just outside of Woodland, Utah. This is a place I really want to come back to with my motorcycle.

After our hike in Woodland, I jumped out on the road with my skateboard for a few minutes, while Marissa trailed behind me in the car and snapped a few photos.

And on our last day together, Marissa and I drove to Antelope Island on the Great Salt Lake and explored the area while at the same time searching for bison, coyotes, and lots and lots of birds. I’ll share more photos of Antelope island in a separate future post.

Each night while at my condo, Marissa and I watched a movie and talked about decorating ideas for my condo.

I don’t know if Marissa had fun during her stay in Park City… but I hope she did!
